In an effort to control the population of the Israelites, the Pharaoh orders the Hebrew midwives to only allow baby girls to live. As true servants of God, the midwives defy Pharaoh saving the baby boys. When Moses was born his mother recognised a divine purpose within him and as is often the case, God utilises the deep devotion of women in the story of Moses’ birth and childhood. There are parallels here to the story of Jesus’ birth many years later and the devotion of women throughout His life and death.
The preacher is David Fuller and the passage is Exodus 1:15-2:10.
